  Memory card expansion
Posted by: k7gps.dave - 12-20-2020, 06:39 PM - Forum: FAQ - No Replies

Q: What’s the largest micro-SD card I can put in either of the two memory card slots on the RFinder B1?
A: The RFinder B1 can use up to 128GB data, total. If you have two 64GB data cards, they will work. If you have more than 128GB data combined total, it won’t work.

Wink Promiscuous Mode
Posted by: k7gps.dave - 12-20-2020, 06:38 PM - Forum: FAQ - No Replies

Q: What is Promiscuous Mode DMR?
A: The DMR Promiscuous Mode lets you listen to all talk groups on any time slot on any color code. When you receive a signal and you want to switch to that time slot – talk group combination, you just press a button on the RFinder and the radio changes to it. So, basically, you can monitor a repeater for all communications.

I'm doing this at home on the hotspot. On the Brandmeister network page you can add several talk groups to your Static Talkgroups list. I have five favorites. Once I input these I can tune my radio to the hotspot freq, then select Prom Mode. If there's any traffic on any of the TGs, the radio will receive it.

  APRS on the B1
Posted by: k7gps.dave - 12-20-2020, 06:36 PM - Forum: FAQ - No Replies

Q: Can the RFinder B1 operate APRS?
A: Not really, while the RFinder B1 can receive the APRS national frequency on 144.39 mHz, it cannot process AX-25 emissions on RF. However, all is not lost. You can download/install the APRSdroid app for a small fee, then run APRS (over your data connection).

  B1 Accessories
Posted by: k7gps.dave - 12-20-2020, 06:28 PM - Forum: Accessories - Replies (3)

Accessories

  1. Hand-held microphone/speaker. The B1 can be outfitted with a handheld microphone, available at extra cost. It attaches to the right side of the radio.
  2. Ear-piece/microphone. The B1 can be outfitted with an ear-piece and microphone, also available at extra cost. It also attaches to the right side of the radio.
  3. If neither a microphone or ear-piece is attached, a small plastic cover is available at extra cost, which will help keep the connector free of debris.
  4. A spare battery is common to many go-kits. You can purchase an extra battery, with rating of 2500mAh@7.6V. It will include a belt clip that is attached with two small screws. It’s easiest to install the belt clip by placing the battery on a flat surface, then pressing down on the belt clip while aligning the screw holes and tightening as necessary.
  5. If you prefer a belt loop mount over a belt clip, one is available at extra cost. Check Gigaparts.com for these accessories.

  B1 cellular connections
Posted by: k7gps.dave - 12-20-2020, 06:22 PM - Forum: FAQ - Replies (3)

Q: What cell companies does the RFinder B1 work with?
A: The RFinder B1 works with Verizon, TMobile, AT&T, Mint Mobile, and their MVNOs as well as CA, SA, EU, Oceana and Asian carriers.

It will not work with Tello or Sprint. May not work with Visible Phone (uses Verizon)

If your B1 won't recognize the sim card you had activated in another phone (where it did work), download the app "LTE Discovery" on the OLD phone. See what band it is using for Verizon. If it is Band 13 or 66, you may not get coverage on the B1, since the B1 does not support those Bands. Info courtesy Andy Nourse.

  Volume Control Problem
Posted by: Regodog - 09-27-2020, 09:43 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

Not sure if this is FW related but I already upgraded to 11.60.  Sometimes the volume control will not go lower than 3, 4, or 5 which is really loud.  I found that changing the channels around and going back to the volume, you can get it to go back down lower.
