Nice Stubby Antenna for Hot Spot Use
Posted by: hdtravel - 03-09-2021, 09:50 PM - Forum: Accessories - No Replies

The Comet Antennas SMA-209J is a nice stubby antenna for use with your RFinder B1 when using it with a Hot Spot or close to a repeater. It is nice quality - fits this radio and performs decent for it's short size. I recommend it.

PTT Silent -
DMR Roam -
Admit Mode -
Admit Tone -
Talkout -
Reject Tone -

  HCP-1 Died
Posted by: tadgh45 - 02-18-2021, 12:30 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

HCP-1 just died on me yesterday while using it mobile - linked to my iPhone 7Plus. I thought maybe the battery was dead and charged it all night when I got home.( I wish there was an charge indicator on it. Very frustrating.) It will now turn on for about 20 seconds and then go dead again before it can connect to the internet. Any clue what's going on? Is there any firmware update for this?

  "Internal Hotspot"
Posted by: johntfrost - 01-30-2021, 09:11 PM - Forum: Development - Replies (3)

What is the status on the roll out of the so called "Internal Hotspot" for the B1? I thought it was supposed to be available around last May or so by way of a Firmware update. That was a key factor in my purchase of the B1.

Thanks in advance

  APRS on the B1
Posted by: k7gps.dave - 01-25-2021, 02:38 PM - Forum: Development - Replies (1)

Several folks have asked about using APRS on the B1. Good news, you already can, and more improvements are on the way. For now, you can use the app APRSdroid and configure it for use on the APRS-IS via your cellular connection. What's under development now is getting APRSdroid and the B1 to work under RF. Bob is working with the author of APRSdroid Michael Iafrato to make this happen. Stay tuned.

  noob question RE: sim card
Posted by: aslondon - 01-24-2021, 02:21 AM - Forum: General Discussions - Replies (2)

I am a little unclear about getting a sim card to work with the B1.  I have an old iphone which I have taken out of service.  Do I need to reactivate it then pull the sim card out and put it in the B1 and keep the cell account active under the iphone label?  Or do I just rry to add a new line of service with no phone attached other than the B1 and ask verizon for a sim card?  I have a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra that I am keeping as my main number.  I'll use the B1 as a back-up phone.

Thanks in advance.  My B1 should be here monday so it may become clearer at that point.

  Receive problems
Posted by: ecmckinley - 01-23-2021, 04:51 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (2)

Hello,

I purchased an RFinder B1 this week and have set everything up.  I am having an issue that makes no sense to me, I am hoping you can give me guidance.

I noticed that I was receiving no activity whatsoever using a pistar hotspot.  I opened the dashboard and when I key up in talkgroups, I can see where I am transmitting, however, I hear no response even though I can see others answering.  Purely by accident I tapped the PTT key while someone was answering my CQ, the green light came on and I could hear them.  I then entered a conversation, but each time after transmitting, I had to tap the PTT to hear them.    Also, I am hearing nothing on repeaters that downloaded to my B1. Also, if I change from one TG to another, I will hear whoever is transmitting, but once they stop and another responds, I do NOT hear the responder and there is no activity again unless I tap the PTT.

Is there some type squelch setting that I am not seeing?  Have you heard of this happening before, can you help?

  Transmit Audio
Posted by: K4LEZ - 01-23-2021, 11:35 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - No Replies

Other than going into the developer mode and turning the mic gain up to 7, is there any way to increase transmit audio without having to put your lips on the phone? Maybe noise-cancelling setting or something like that? My audio is pretty low.

Also, bonus question. I can't get the fingerprint to work.

I refuse to use FaceBook BTW, they are Bullies!

THANKS
